In collaboration with online 3D Printing service company i.materialise, New York-based fashion brand has 3D printed futuristic concept pieces for an exhibition entitled "ZONAL – Extending the Body and Mind" which will be exhibited at the WantedDesign Show held in New York City from May 16 to 19.

NOOKA was founded by artist/designer Matthew Waldman. This "technoprogressive" design firm is best known for their unique timepieces. In November 2013, NOOKA partnered with 3D Systems to deliver a special edition3D printed Zub 40 watch collection, an ideal holiday gift for tech enthusiast alike.

The project ZONAL, inspired by Hindu vedic chakras, will feature designs that correspond with the seven body zones: Foundation, Locomotion, Creation, Core, Heart, Head, and Dream. Each designer was assigned to one body zone and designed a product that conceptualizes an extension of this body zone to the world. Three of them were printed by i.materalise using a variety of materials and technology.

Highrise Shoes: Designed by Dutch architect and United Nude designer Rem D. Koolhaas, Highrise Shoes do not at first appear to be a shoe. This product, representing the Foundation zone, is a play on the idea of architecture meeting fashion and scale, and indeed, the shoes raise the fundamental question of "what makes a shoe a shoe?"

Highrise Shoes are 3D printed in polyamide.

Cosmic Messenger: Designed by Luca Nichetto and Lera Moiseeva, Cosmic Messenger lets you experience virtual space travel through a 360-degree camera showing the voyage of your voice sent into space. The message recorded and sent from this Cosmic Messenger travels into the future and becomes a part of infinity.

The Cosmic Messenger is 3D printed in transparent resin and polyamide.

Selfie Mirror Camera: A modern creation by Joe Doucet, Selfie Mirror Camera is an embodiment of the core zone. As a way of viewing who we really are and how we perceive ourselves to be, Selfie Mirror Camera is both a comment on and a celebration of the pervasiveness of the "selfie". While expressing simplicity in its form, the specific cut of the shape allows the mirror to raise to eye level when set down.

"3D printing has so much potential to revolutionize the whole manufacturing and consumer landscape, and even bio-medical technology." said Waldman. "NOOKA has some reach in the fashionista world that I felt I can do a small part in getting the excitement I have for 3D printing out to a wider audience."
