Rinkak holds 3D Printing Design Contest

Rinkak, Asia's biggest marketplace for 3D printed products, which also develops original 3D printed products; and also recently expanded operations to North America, announced that they are partnering with Stratasys to hold a 3D Printing Design Contest with $10,000 in rewards.

Through this contest, Rinkak aims to widen the appeal and excitement of digital fabrication, and furthermore create opportunities for all people regardless of their being professionals or hobbyists, to share and interact ideas and works.

The contest begins today, November 18th, and the deadline for entries is January, 19th, 2015.

The theme of the contest is "Make WOW," and Rinkak wants entries to find the new possibilities of “WOW!” which applies 3D printing technologies within the categories of Fashion, Interior Goods, Smartphone and Gadget Accessories, and Figurines.

The contest will be judged by Character Designer, Hiroshi Yoshii; BERG CEO, Matt Webb; Product Designer, Takumi Shimamura; and Architect,
Wind Environment Designer, Tamaho Shigemura on the criteria of Originality/Creativity, Insights on the theme, Story­-telling creativity, and Idea feasibility.
One person will win a Makerbot Replicator; one runner up will win $2000 in cash, and a $1000 rinkak discount; and one grand prize winner will win $5000 in cash, and a $2000 discount.
